On September 12th we were invited to experience first-hand the brand new premises of Crombie Lockwood on Harington Street. It was a lovely environment where we were hosted by some of the local female team. Jan Rodgers, Group Broking Manager, started the evening by giving us a history of the firm and the part she has played in that.

Maria Wilson, a broker and liability specialist at the firm, then shared her experience moving from the legal profession into insurance and the skills that she has brought with her. She made us aware of the importance and value of using a broker in assessing risk exposure, policy coverage and claims handling. She then gave a brief overview of issues surrounding Directors & Officers / Trustees protection along with Cyber Insurance.

Annie Wood then spoke about her background moving from a career in banking to her current role as broker at the firm and her success as being one of the firm’s top sales people in New Zealand. Annie admitted it was her first time to speak in front of a large crowd and that she was extremely nervous, however she did a fantastic job and judging by her performance, she will be presenting more often in future.

It was a great insight into the insurance broking industry and the importance of insurance, hosted by a great team of women.
