On 19th June we held a Business Behind the Scenes event at Boffa Miskell, in their stunning new offices on the 5th floor of 35 Grey Street. Boffa Miskell is a leading New Zealand environmental planning and design consultancy. Associate Partners, Dr Sharon De Luca and Rebecca Ryder, gave us an insight into the wide variety of services and projects that they have been involved including local projects such as Kopurererua Valley Reserve, and Coast Papamoa Beach.
The Boffa team is made up of experts in environmental planning, landscape architecture, urban design, ecology, biosecurity, cultural advisory, graphics and mapping consultants who all work with clients both in the public and private sector to help them successfully achieve their projects.
Dr Sharon De Luca shared her interesting and broad experiences with us. When she left school she had no intentions of pursuing a career in science, but she now has more than 16 years’ experience in marine ecology and six years’ experience in freshwater and terrestrial ecology. She joined Boffa Miskell in 2007 and is now the Managing Principal of the Tauranga Office and also acts as an Independment Commissioner for the Ministry for the Environment.
Rebecca joined Boffa Miskell in 2001 and was one of the original employees in the now 21 strong team in the Tauranga office. Her background is in landscape architecture, including planning and design and she places a strong focus on designing proposals into an environment, responding to the natural environment and needs of a community.
It was a very informative evening and made us realise all the different aspects that need to be considered in environmental planning.
