On August 13th we were treated to a great Business Behind the Scenes event at Lysaght Consultants. Lysaght is a vibrant, forward-thinking consultancy in Tauranga, specialising in land surveying, civil engineering, land development and planning (with a bit of multisport on the side). Lysaght Consultants was formed by Fiona and Bruce Lysaght 24 years ago and is now an energetic team of twenty-five who are committed to solving their client’s problems, all the while upholding their healthy mind, healthy body philosophy and living by the mantra ‘love what you do or change what you do’.
On arrival at their office we visibly saw their commitment to multisport with the numerous bikes elevated on the bike racks in reception. They had prepared an amazing grazing table that kept us well-nourished throughout the event. It included the kiwi classics of asparagus rolls, cheese balls and curried eggs, as well as numerous other treats, and was accompanied by a wonderful homemade mulled wine.
We learnt about various aspects of the Lysaght organisation through a number of team members. Fiona entertained us for a while first, sharing her Lysaght journey from the initial days of being a chainman out on site using survey equipment she didn’t know existed, to her current role as Director of People and Culture. We then heard from other members of the team about their roles, the industry and the career pathways within Lysaght. As they spoke you could certainly see the core value they place on their people, their projects and their partnerships shine through. You could also clearly see how they had earnt the reputation for being an innovative, friendly, down-to-earth team who focus on being the solution rather than the problem, and of course having loads of fun along the way.
