On November 19th we had a sell-out event with over 75 women keen to hear from Sharon Hunter, one of New Zealand’s best-known and respected business women.
Sharon captivated us with her experiences and reflections from her career. Initially she aspired to be a nurse but after a short time realised that wasn’t to be her chosen path. By seizing the right opportunities at the right time at the young age of 22 she became the co-founder of PC Direct, with business partner Maurice Bryham. After selling this highly successful computer company in 1997, while raising two children, Sharon became involved in several other projects, played and continues to play a valuable role on several boards. She admits to being a serial entrepreneur and not being afraid to take risks. She then shared with us a little about her current innovative entrepreneurial on-line project that is shortly to be tested in the US market.
Sharon’s presentation was very authentic and inspirational as the audience resonated with her words and key messages. We all left feeling very excited about the prospect of seeing and hearing more from Sharon as she becomes more involved and connected in our business community supporting her partner Tenby Powell in his role as mayor.
A special thank you to KPMG who were able to act as a last minute host for us so we could accommodate the larger than anticipated audience.
